Bookman bicycle lights

I saw these very minimally designed bike lights online.  Maybe I got them because they nostalgically remind me of Lego blocks.  Was hesitant to get them since they looked very small and wasn’t sure how much light they would be able to produce.  But since they are LEDs, that should make me spottable on the road and I don’t plan to use the lights to shine my way on a very dark desolate street so I decided to give them a try. Plus it was a good deal for 19.90 euro for 2 lights.

The “installation” is an elastic snap. Basically just wrap the cable around your handlebar and seat post.  The plastic body has grooves in all the right places so it will always have a good fit.

It’s a very simple design and keeps a low profile on your bike.  It doesn’t stick out much except maybe for its color, but i think the bright color makes it fun.

Gave these lights a test in the dark, tail light, steady mode:

Headlight, steady mode, spotlight on wall 3ft-4ft away.

Headlight, steady mode, spotlight on wall about 8ft away

I really like them.  They are small and light; easy to attach and stow.  Also easy to forget and leave on your bike for someone else to detach and stow.  They produce a substancial amount of light, at least for my needs.  Some minor things: they aren’t marked so you have to turn them on to see if they’re a head or tail light and you have to get through 4 tiny screws on each light if you want to replace the batteries. Not biggies since I’m very happy with them.  They should modify these things for night runners!

Sweet and delicious. Definitely a dessert juice.

Linus Sac

I’ve been eyeing linus’ the sac for some time now but the last 2 times I’ve visited their show room on abbot kinney they’ve been sold out.  My sister picked one up for me at her new fav bike shop, A Street Bike Named Desire in Palo Alto.  I went with the sand and red bag.  It’s stylish but also stands out.

The bag attaches easily to your rear rack with 2 rubberized covered hooks.  There’s also a loop to secure your bag with a small lock (included with the bag).

Strong magnet closure on top.  The bag feels sturdy, made of canvas and waxed for water resistance.

Interior pocket, perfect for a cellphone, keys, or small wallet.

Like rusty colored water, but delicious. Tasted creamy with a hint of caramel.

Looks like blood, but tastes smooth and slightly sweet.

Rainy and chilly weekend = lots of knitting. Completed a cream scarf and midway through a navy. I just ordered more festive/fall colored yarn from knitpicks. Really would to tackle a mitten pattern but have to knit for the office before the holidays!

Love Padlocks

While in Sevilla I noticed padlocks on the Isabel II bridge over the Guadalquivir river. The padlocks had names, initials, or maybe a message written in sharpie. Standing on the bridge, looking at the water; I felt pleasantly happy.  I was imagining all these people in love visiting the bridge and standing in the same spot I was. Thinking it was cute and with only an idea of what this was all about; I snapped some pictures to remind myself to look it up when I got home.

The view from bridge is pretty romantic and especially beautiful at night so I can see how this would be THE place for couples. After some searching, the story behind them is that couples attach the engraved padlocks onto the bridge and toss the key into the river. Sweet right? The city of Sevilla cuts off the padlocks every 15 days because of the added weight of the locks on the bridge, but that doesn’t seem to deter people.

A lone lock spotted in Ronda…

A family?  Since it would odd to profess enduring padlock love and commitment if you’re in a love triangle…Or maybe it’s a polygamous relationship. No judgement.
