Polaroid installation
On this rainy Sunday (btw carwash fail, just took zippy to one yesterday…) I decided to finally hang/display my polaroids somehow instead of letting them sit in an envelope, in a drawer somewhere. A long time ago someone on craigslist gave me literally bags of empty polaroid 600 cartridges.

I cannot claim to have created the idea of using them as holders or frames for my pictures… I think i saw someone else do it somewhere, but it seemed such an eco idea to reuse them. Just take off the bottom plastic lip and insert!

Be sure to press down on the metal part so the photo slides in easier.

There are many things you could potentially affix to the back depending on how youw ant to use it. Magnets, double sided mounting adhesive, maybe even create a little arm to have it as a stand alone frame for table tops. I chose adhesives because of my blank canvas…

If you do go with mounting adhesives, we aware of what kind of surface you are sticking them on. For instance, high gloss paints on walls might be slippery. Luckily for me, we have this weird, scary textured wallpaper that has been painted over. Perfect for sticking stuff!

placements, i sort of just did it freehand…

There are so many cool things about this: you find a purpose for those darn cartridges, eco-friendly, and aesthetically the presentation makes it feel very vintage and the black cartridges frames the pictures well. Also, you can easily take out and slip in different photos if you’re feeling like having new photos or inspired for a new arrangement. No need to remove them from the wall.

A step back… i realize i need to take more Polaroids! Motivated to put more up!
