Hearst Castle
A couple of weekends ago we did a little road tripping through the central coast or as we like to call it: “Adventure Time!” (still deliberating on a theme song). The Hearst Castle was the main attraction, but I definitely enjoyed the beauco-licness of the surrounding area from the cute surfer beach towns to the endless rolling mountains dotted with happy cows.
Nestled atop of the mountain, Hearst Castle.

yelle - oh!

Hearst Castle itself seemed like a a potluck of various time periods and styles: medieval, roman, American ranch, religious, spanish… we were told in the tour the W.R. Hearst was indecisive and would often change his mind and it showed! Though one commonality was that everything was ornate or had extreme detail. Building exteriors, ceilings, or even smaller things like a door knob. I know, I actually stopped to take a picture of a door knob…

The indoor pool was elegant, with tiles accented with gold. Supposedly this is a diving platform, we haven’t figured out how you climb up there…

aaah oui, piscine de l’or comme les etoiles dans the nuit

Surprisingly there are 5 tours of the whole estate. I want to come back around Christmastime which I read they decorate the house pretty festively and do live reenactments.
